Services & pricing

Database migration, and the services to run it after.

Heterogeneous migration is our core expertise. Automation and database services keep what we migrate healthy afterwards. Every engagement begins with a discovery call and a written plan before we touch anything.

Core expertise

Heterogeneous & VLDB database migration

Our core work: moving a production database from one engine to a different one — Oracle or SQL Server to PostgreSQL, MySQL or a cloud warehouse — sized for very large databases as well as smaller ones.

Good fit if: an Oracle or SQL Server licence renewal, a cloud move, or a version end-of-life is on the calendar.

See our process →
  • Assessment firstSchema, data volume, stored code and application dependencies audited before any estimate.
  • Schema & data type conversionTables, indexes, constraints and partitioning mapped to the target engine, not just auto-translated.
  • Stored code rewrittenPL/SQL and T-SQL procedures, functions, triggers and packages converted and reviewed line by line.
  • Minimal-downtime data movementBulk load plus change replication where the engines allow it, to keep the cutover window short.
  • Staged rehearsalThe full migration runs in staging first, with timings measured for the real cutover.
  • Validated cutoverRow counts and checksums verified against the source before production is switched.
  • Rollback planA written, tested way back if anything fails validation.
Retainer

DBA-as-a-Service

A fractional senior DBA team for your production databases, on-prem or in the cloud, on a month-to-month retainer.

Good fit if: you run production databases but can't justify, or can't find, a full-time senior DBA.

  • Monitoring & alertingHealth, replication, storage and slow-query alerts set up and watched for you.
  • Backups you can restoreBackup schedules reviewed, and restores tested rather than assumed.
  • Patching & upgradesMinor and major version upgrades planned, rehearsed in staging, then applied.
  • On-call incident support24/7 on-call coverage on Growth and Enterprise plans.
  • Regular reviewsA recurring performance and capacity review with written recommendations.
Project or retainer

Database automation

Replace the manual, repeated database work — provisioning, backups, patching, refreshes, health checks — with scripts and pipelines your team can run and trust.

Good fit if: your DBAs spend their week on repeat tasks, or the same manual step keeps causing incidents.

  • Infrastructure as codeDatabase servers, clusters and cloud instances provisioned with Terraform, the same way every time.
  • Backup & restore automationScheduled backups with automated restore tests, and an alert when one fails.
  • Patching & maintenance jobsScripted patching, re-orgs, statistics and housekeeping that run on a schedule.
  • Environment refreshesDev and test refreshed from production on demand, with sensitive data masked.
  • Health checks & routingRoutine checks scripted in Python and shell, with alerts and tickets routed to the right person.
  • Cloud cost automationNon-production databases and warehouses paused and resumed on a schedule to cut spend.
Project

Performance & cost optimization

Find out why the database is slow or expensive, and fix the causes rather than adding hardware.

Good fit if: queries are timing out, the cloud database bill keeps growing, or a launch is about to multiply your load.

Request a consultation →
  • Workload analysisTop queries by time and frequency identified from real production statistics.
  • Query & index tuningRewrites and index changes proposed with before/after measurements.
  • Configuration reviewMemory, connection, vacuum/maintenance and replication settings checked against your workload.
  • Cloud right-sizingInstance classes, storage and replicas matched to actual usage on RDS, Aurora, Cloud SQL and others.
  • Written findingsA prioritised report your team can act on, with or without us.
Audit

Security & compliance audits

An independent review of who can reach your data and how it is protected, aligned with India's DPDP Act.

Good fit if: a customer, auditor or investor is asking how your data is secured, or you handle personal data at scale.

Request a consultation →
  • Access control reviewAccounts, roles and privileges checked against least-privilege.
  • Encryption checkEncryption at rest and in transit verified, including backups.
  • PII handlingWhere personal data lives, who can read it, and how it is masked or retained.
  • Audit loggingWhether access and changes are logged in a way you could actually investigate.
  • Remediation planFindings ranked by risk, with concrete fixes.
Migration paths

From the engine you have to the engine you want.

Heterogeneous migrations between different database engines are our core work. We also handle same-engine moves into and between clouds.

→
Heterogeneous

Oracle → PostgreSQL

Schema, PL/SQL and data moved off Oracle licensing, with disaster recovery designed for the new clusters.

→
Heterogeneous

SQL Server → PostgreSQL

T-SQL procedures, data types and jobs converted and tested against your application.

→
Heterogeneous

Oracle / SQL Server → MySQL & Aurora

For teams standardising on MySQL or on AWS-managed engines.

→
Warehouse

Teradata → Redshift / Snowflake

Warehouse schemas, loads and reporting queries re-platformed onto a cloud warehouse.

↔
NoSQL

MongoDB ↔ DocumentDB

Compatibility checked, indexes rebuilt, and data moved in either direction.

→
Legacy

Legacy systems → Oracle / PostgreSQL

FoxPro-era and file-based data profiled, cleaned and loaded into a modern relational database.

→
Cloud

On-prem → AWS, Azure, Google Cloud

Same engine, new home: RDS, Aurora, Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, or self-managed in the cloud.

→
Cloud

Cloud → cloud

PostgreSQL and MySQL workloads moved between AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.

Don't see your path? Ask us — we'll tell you plainly whether it's one we can take on.
Our process

How a migration runs

Every engagement follows the same five stages, in the same order.

01

Discovery

Audit your current schema, data volume, query patterns, and access model.

02

Plan

A written migration or engagement plan, with a rollback strategy and timeline, reviewed with your team before anything moves.

03

Execute

Migration or onboarding runs in a staging environment first — production is only touched once staging checks out.

04

Validate

Row-count and checksum verification against the source before any cutover is confirmed.

05

Run

Ongoing monitoring, tuning, and support begins — or handoff documentation, if that's all you need.

Database technology

We run what you already run.

No rip-and-replace agenda — we work inside the platforms you've already chosen, relational, warehouse, or NoSQL.

Relational

PostgreSQL

Migrations onto Postgres, extension tuning, and ongoing DBA support.

Relational

MySQL

Replication, upgrades, and performance work on MySQL and its managed variants.

Legacy / enterprise

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a heterogeneous migration?

It's a move from one database engine to a different one, such as Oracle to PostgreSQL or SQL Server to PostgreSQL. Unlike a same-engine move, the schema, data types and stored code all have to be converted and re-tested, which is why it needs specialists.

How much downtime should we expect?

It depends on the engines, the data volume and how your application writes data. Where change replication is possible we keep the cutover to a short planned window; where it isn't, we tell you the window up front, measured from a staging rehearsal rather than guessed.

Is our data safe working with a third party?

Yes — engagements run under NDA by default, we use least-privilege access (only the credentials an engagement actually needs), and we never copy or store your production data outside your own infrastructure.

Which database engines do you support?

PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL, MongoDB, Couchbase, and DocumentDB, plus managed cloud platforms including Amazon RDS, Aurora, Redshift, Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, and Snowflake — on-prem or in the cloud.

How fast can you start?

Most engagements begin with a discovery call within a few days of first contact, followed by a written plan before we touch anything in your environment.

Can we scale the engagement up or down?

Yes — retainers run month-to-month with no long-term lock-in, and if you'd rather not commit to a retainer at all, we also support pay-as-you-go engagements billed for the hours or incidents you actually use.

Do you support on-prem databases, or only cloud?

Both. We work with databases running on your own infrastructure and on managed cloud platforms (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL) — including very large databases (VLDB) in either environment.

Do you only work with startups?

No — we work with early-stage startups that need a fractional DBA, and with larger enterprises migrating off legacy platforms like Oracle or SQL Server.
